Our thematic areas

Seven thematic areas

1. Education

Primary Target: Vulnerable children, school-going learners, out-of-school youth, teachers, schools

Key focus areas:

  • Education sponsorship — covering fees, uniforms, books and school requirements for vulnerable learners
  • Scholarships for high-achieving learners from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • School infrastructure — classrooms, latrines, furniture and learning materials
  • Skills development through vocational and technical training
  • Education access for children in remote and underserved communities

2. Health Empowerment, Menstrual Health & SRHR

Primary Target: Girls, adolescents, young women, boys, parents, schools

Key focus areas:

  • Sanitary wear distribution to keep girls in school during their menstrual cycle
  • Menstrual health management and hygiene education
  • Sexual and reproductive health education for adolescents and young people
  • Prevention of teenage pregnancies and child marriages
  • Advocacy for national policy on free and consistent distribution of sanitary pads in schools

3. Child Protection & Safeguarding

Primary Target: Children, adolescents, parents, caregivers, child protection committees

Key focus areas:

  • Protecting children from abuse, exploitation, neglect and all forms of vulnerability
  • Strengthening child protection systems at community and school level
  • Promoting children's rights, participation and psychosocial support
  • Safeguarding in schools and community spaces
  • Advocacy against child labour and early marriage

4. Livelihood

Primary Target: Youth, women, persons with disabilities, small-scale entrepreneurs, farmer groups

Key focus areas:

  • Entrepreneurship training and business development support
  • Agriculture — linking youth and smallholder farmers to productive opportunities
  • Employment creation through skills training and market linkages
  • Youth participation in income-generating initiatives
  • Support for small and growing enterprises with resources, tools and mentorship

5. Food Security & Nutrition

Primary Target: Schools, vulnerable households, smallholder farmers, women farmers

Key focus areas:

  • School feeding programmes to support learning and attendance
  • Household food security through kitchen gardens and storage support
  • Agricultural production — input support, training and farmer group strengthening
  • Community nutrition awareness and supplementary feeding
  • Climate-smart agriculture to build resilience against food shocks

6. Humanitarian Response & Community Resilience

Primary Target: Disaster-affected communities, internally displaced persons, vulnerable households

Key focus areas:

  • Emergency response — food, water, clothing, shelter and relief items during crises
  • Disaster relief and early recovery support for affected communities
  • Rebuilding of destroyed infrastructure such as schools and community facilities
  • Support to vulnerable communities during floods, fires, disease outbreaks and other crises
  • Strengthening community resilience and disaster preparedness

7. Governance, Advocacy & Youth Participation

Primary Target: Youth organisations, community leaders, citizens, government institutions

Key focus areas:

  • Accountability and transparency — supporting communities to hold duty-bearers accountable
  • Policy advocacy on issues affecting children, youth and vulnerable groups
  • Budget tracking and social auditing at district and community level
  • Youth participation in governance, planning and decision-making processes
  • Citizens' engagement — civic education, rights awareness and community dialogue
