Governance, Policy Accountability & Citizen Participation

At My Helping Hand Foundation (MHHF), we believe that good governance is not only about institutions—it is about people having the knowledge, platforms and power to participate in decisions that affect their lives.

Our governance and accountability work uses a community-driven approach to strengthen transparency, accountability, citizen participation and responsiveness in public institutions and development programmes.

We work with communities, young people, civil society, government institutions and other stakeholders to generate evidence, track commitments and promote constructive dialogue around development priorities.

What We Do

1. Public Budget Tracking & Expenditure Monitoring

We support communities and civil society actors to understand and track public budgets, allocations and expenditure at national, provincial, district and local levels.

We help citizens follow the budget from allocation to implementation, identifying gaps between planned commitments and what is delivered on the ground.

2. Government Policy Monitoring

We monitor government policies, strategies and commitments and assess how they translate into programmes and services at community level.

Our work helps communities understand policies that affect them and engage duty bearers on implementation.

3. Programme & Project Audits

We undertake community-focused programme and project audits to examine whether interventions are being implemented as planned, whether resources are reaching intended beneficiaries,
